  1. Your choices for voting were very limited, I actually think most are 3 or 4 but that wasn’t a choice. I work hard with clients to improve their casting without making them feel like they’re a failure. Some have very good book learning skills but can’t put that into practice in the field. Beginners are beginners and need extra attention so they don’t get discouraged, it’s difficult enough for them without getting bogged down by perfect technique, I concentrate on the simple things for them. Probably the worst ones are the guys who think they’re a great caster and yet they have difficulty getting the cast to the mark or they have poor fish fighting skills which almost negate the ability to cast. It’s not an easy task and sometimes you just can’t make the connection to the client to try to improve, but those who do come away with a huge feeling of accomplishment.

  2. It’s a difficult sport. It takes a lot of time and commitment to become a competent caster, and even longer to become a solid angler. It’s why we have “jobs.”
