Simms Fishing Products, manufacturer of waders, outerwear, footwear, and technical apparel in fishing, announced the appointment of Ned Hobson to Sr. Director of Design.
“Nearly 20 years ago I saved all summer to purchase my first pair of Simms GORE-TEX® waders while working in a fly shop in college. Since then I have always held the brand in high regard,” said Hobson. “As an angler, I couldn’t imagine a better job than working with the strong team here in Bozeman whom is committed to building best-in-class product.”
Hobson has a far-reaching background in product design innovation, quality, and consistency of brand across a broad range of categories in the outdoor and fly-fishing industries. For the last five years, Hobson worked with the Global Product team at Patagonia, most recently serving as a Global Product Director. During Hobson’s tenure, Patagonia received numerous awards for product innovation.
Prior to that, Hobson led successful product branding, design and innovation at Outdoor Research and at Far Bank Enterprises.
“Ned’s industry knowledge and experience, along with a proven track record in brand management are key elements for this leadership role,” said Bart Bonime, VP of Merchandising & Design. “The fact that he has an eye for solid fishing aesthetic and is a hardcore user will provide excellent guidance for the team. I look forward to working in partnership with Ned in elevating Simms to the next level in Global Product leadership”
