Key Editorial Changes at Morris Sporting Group

MCC Magazines, LLC, a division of Morris Communications Company, LLC, today announced two major editorial changes within the Morris Sporting Group. General Manager and American Angler editor Steve Walburn has been named Editor in Chief of Gray’s Sporting Journal and Group Publisher for Gray’s, American Angler, and Fly Tyer magazines. Replacing Walburn as Editor of American Angler is Ben Romans.

Walburn has been with the Morris Sporting Group for ten years, starting as Editor of Saltwater Fly Fishing in 2004. He became General Manager of the group in 2007 and has served as Editor of American Angler since 2009. James R. Babb, Editor of Gray’s since 1997, is retiring and will become Editor Emeritus beginning with the Expeditions and Guides issue in December.

Ben Romans has previously worked as an associate editor at Fly Fisherman and as Editor of The Flyfish Journal. He is the author of Montana’s Best Fly Fishing (Stackpole, 2010) and is at work on a second book. Romans most recently served as a communications specialist for Blue Cross of Idaho. He will be based in Boise, Idaho.

The Morris Sporting Group consists of American Angler, Gray’s Sporting Journal, and Fly Tyer magazines, which collectively reach nearly 100,000 paid and verified readers internationally. Together, they represent nearly 100 years of publishing history in the areas of fly fishing, fly tying, wingshooting, big-game hunting, and sporting travel.
