Day two of the International Fly Tackle Dealer Show allowed us time to dive deeper into the product mix, beyond the fly rods, and here’s a quick list of what we think made the cut so far.
Fishpond Thunderhead Submersible Backpack ($300). A bomber design from Fishpond, in that distinctive orange color, made of 100% recycled material. You can stuff it with all the gear and layers you might need for a day on the water, and wear it comfortably on your back, or toss it in the sloppy bottom of the boat… no problem. Take it for a swim and all your stuff stays dry. And because the zippered main compartment locks water out… but also air INSIDE, if you puff it up and zip it tight, it works as an impromptu camp pillow. At least it’s comfortable to lean up against when you’re waiting for the hatch or the bite to happen.
