Trout Unlimited today announced that Joel R. Johnson, a former advertising agency executive and branding expert, will head up the non-profit conservation organization’s marketing and communications efforts.
“I’m thrilled to come to an organization with such a stellar record for on-the-ground conservation,” Johnson said. “I’ve been a TU member for a long time, and my own passion for fly fishing has given me great insight into the work TU does to make angling better all across America.”
Johnson comes to TU with more than 15 years of advertising, marketing and brand management experience. Most recently, he worked as a senior vice president for GMMB, where he developed marketing strategies for the American Beverage Association, the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, and the Autocare Association. In years past, he’s worked to promote brands at PR and digital agencies, brands like Gillette, Pepsi and HP. Johnson will lead the membership marketing efforts, communications and PR, and corporate marketing teams at TU.
