From The AMFF:

The American Museum of Fly Fishing is pleased to announce Matt Smythe as the museum’s new Director of Membership and Outreach! Previously serving as the head of Communications and Member Relations for the American Fly Fishing Trade Association (AFFTA), Matt will be responsible for raising greater awareness and interest in the museum’s mission, and growing our member base.

“We could not be more excited to have Matt join our team,” says Sarah Foster, Executive Director of the museum. “Our members are the lifeblood that keeps the rich history of fly fishing alive and thriving. Matt’s deep experience and love for the sport – and the fact that he is one of our Ambassadors – make him ideally suited to welcome more people to the museum family, ensuring that the origins of fly fishing remain an integral part of its future.”

“The staff and Board of the museum are passionate about keeping the history of fly fishing alive and relevant within the ever-evolving growth of the sport,” adds Nancy Zakon, avid angler and long-time AMFF board member. “Matt brings with him an understanding of where the sport is now and where it’s headed, along with a genuine respect for its past. We are so pleased to have him join us.”

“It is an honor to be joining the talented and dedicated AMFF team,” says Matt. “To have an opportunity to engage with the history of fly fishing and tell its many stories is a special thing. I look forward to my role in introducing many more people to the anglers, explorers, innovators and creative minds who made the fly fishing we know today possible.”
