Check out the latest issue of TROUT magazine, the national publication of TROUT Unlimited, and you’ll see a story on “America’s Most Trout (and Salmon) Friendly Companies.” It isn’t a ranking, per se, rather a listing that recognizes the good work that many businesses—including some from well outside the fly-fishing industry—do on behalf of trout fishing and the resources that sustain the sport.
The list was limited to manufacturers and selections by a panel of TU staffers and volunteers were based on the following criteria: “ 1. The company supports and engages in efforts to protect and restore habitat to make trout and salmon fishing better (and/or preserve fishing opportunities for the future) and 2. The company promotes the culture of trout and salmon fishing in ways that increases appreciation of the sport, participation in conservation, and attracts more stewards of resources.
