Gogal Publishing Company, the leading publisher of fishing maps and wilderness mapping applications, and WildTroutStreams.com, the largest online collection of wild trout data on the Internet, announced today the release of Colorado Wild Trout for iPhone and iPad.

Designed to work with or without phone service, Colorado Wild Trout combines detailed trout maps with comprehensive data and GPS navigation allowing anglers to easily find and access wild trout throughout Colorado.  Over 1,300 streams and lakes are included and each is color coded to identify native cutthroat trout vs. non-native trout populations. The trout map can be viewed over roads, satellite images, or topographic data and a built in GPS receiver continuously tracks the user’s current location.  Users can also store favorite locations and custom waypoints with fishing notes for future use.

“This app combines our most reliable and extensively field-tested GPS mapping technology with accurate stream maps and a powerful search database of native and wild trout populations within Colorado.”  said Mike Gogal, President of Gogal Publishing Company.

Each wild trout destination includes detailed information on trout species, lake size, elevation, stream gradient, fishing regulations, public access and warnings of recent wildfire activity.  Many locations include population density, Colorado Parks & Wildlife’s conservation status, Trout Unlimited’s CSI rating, and the EPAs’ water quality rating.  A built-in search menu allows anglers to find trout fishing by species, stream name or proximity to their location.  In addition to wild trout, the app also maps Colorado’s Gold Medal Trout Waters and provides directions, navigation, and contact information for fly fishing shops and guide services making it an indispensible fly fishing tool.

“We’ve been collecting information about native and wild trout since 2007.” said WildTroutStream.com’s founder, Michael Goldstein, “Now, with the introduction of Colorado Wild Trout, we’ve integrated this extraordinarily deep and diverse collection of data into one easy to use tool for anyone wishing to explore wild trout fishing in Colorado.”

Colorado Wild Trout is available on the AppStore at the introductory price of $29.99.
