What’s the best way to regulate “angler pressure” on rivers that get pounded hard, and we can document that trout populations are declining?
- Limit guide days/permits on the water.
- Consider regulating techniques used to curtail catch numbers (e.g. dry flies and streamers only, or no lead allowed).
- Close the season to give the fish months off.
- Require any angler to get a permit (for free, via online registration) to fish.
- Just let nature take its course, the pressure will ease if the fishing isn’t as good.
