BOZEMAN, Montana – April 14-16 in beautiful Bozeman, Mont., some of the best fishing guides actually get a few days to mix professional development with fun as they converge for Simms Fishing Products’ second annual “Simms Ice Out Guide Event,” a three-day workshop crafted to equip the hardest working people in fly fishing with knowledge and tactics needed to make the 2011 fishing season better than any season before.
The Ice Out Guide Event features seminars on environmental issues, business development, new products and marketing designed specifically for fishing guides. Also included in the weekend are social gatherings, a product sale, opportunities for networking, some swag, the first-ever “Guide Olympics” where competitors will test their casting, rod rigging and trailer-backing skills and most importantly, time to provide Simms with product feedback.
Fishing guides of all stripes who are members of the Simms Pro Program are invited to attend the weekend of professional development in Bozeman. Simms has arranged for discounted room rates at a number of Bozeman hotels and there is no charge for the event.
“Guides are clearly a central part of Simms’ business and the fishing industry,” said Diane Bristol, director of marketing and brand management for Simms. “Last year’s event created an energy and focus for them and for us in addition to giving them a chance to learn more about Simms. We’re excited to do it again.”
Interested guides can register for the event at www.simmsfishing.com/iceout where they can also find a complete schedule of the weekend, lodging choices and other information. Additional questions can be directed to [email protected].
