WAITSFIELD, VERMONT _Pale Morning Media LLC, a public relations and strategic communications agency specializing in the outdoor world, was retained this week by the Vermont Fish & Wildlife department for spring 2011 project work.

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife project will focus on big-game management topics, and will utilize a variety of strategic and tactical initiatives, beginning immediately.

“The emerging issues in fish and wildlife management are topics that need to be understood by all Vermonters.  They’re front-page stories, and they deserve front-page attention,” said Drew Simmons, Pale Morning Media founder and president.

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife contract is the latest step for Pale Morning Media in an expanding body of work within the sporting field, both regionally and nationally.

Pale Morning Media’s current national client work includes representation of the iconic Simms Fishing Products, the innovative Fishhound.com, and the legendary Woolrich — and their recent project work has included support of the National Wildlife Federation’s Northeast Regional Center and the Vermont Wildlife Partnership.

“There’s no doubt that Pale Morning Media’s growth in the sporting segment has been directly fueled by our personal and professional passion for the issues at hand, as well as the brands that support the lifestyle,” said Simmons.

Pale Morning Media’s work in the sporting category is anchored by account director Matt Crawford — a 12-year veteran of the outdoor order xanax cheap desk at the Burlington Free Press, and a former freelance writer whose work has appeared in Upland Almanac, FLW Outdoors Magazine and Outdoor Life.   Hired by Pale Morning Media in 2008, Crawford is a lifelong hunter and angler, and brings an acute, personal understanding of outdoor recreation trends and wildlife management issues to the role.

As another former journalist, Simmons also brings experience in the field to the agency.   Prior to entering public relations in 1998, Simmons edited the Colorado, Northern California and Alaska editions of Fishing & Hunting News (Seattle, Wash.), before working as a newspaper editor in the sportsman’s paradise of Jackson Hole, Wyo.

And when it came time to found his own agency in 2001, he turned to his flybox for inspiration.

“The Pale Morning Dun is one of those flies that’s a proven success, and can often be the catalyst for some of the most exciting and memorable times of your life,” said Simmons.  “It was the perfect choice.”
