New Berlin, Wis. (September 4, 2009) —Sportsman Channel and Trout Unlimited  will host a cocktail reception during the Fly Fishing Retailer show at booth #1616 on Friday, September 11, from 5 to 6 p.m. The event will, in part, celebrate the recently announced partnership between Trout Unlimited (TU) and InterMedia Outdoors (IMO), parent company of Sportsman, as well as showcase TU’s  show “On the Rise”,which is moving exclusively to Sportsman Channel in 2010. The Fly Fishing Retailer show is a business-to-business show held at Denver’s Colorado Convention Center on September 10-12.

“On the Rise” TV host Frank Smethurst will be present to sign autographs and take photos with attendees and fans. Those visiting the reception will have the chance to enter to win a TU 50th Anniversary Special Edition Orvis 5 wt. rod and receive a special gift courtesy of Sportsman Channel and Trout Unlimited.

“On the Rise” is one man’s journey in search of the most compelling rivers and streams in the country, along with the people at TU who fight to protect them. Frank and his arsenal of fly rods travel across America on a fish-filled journey, where they explore nature’s treasures from hooking big rainbows in Alaska’s Bristol Bay to big browns on New York’s Delaware River and everywhere in between.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to reinforce our partnership announcement made in July,” said President of Sportsman Channel Willy Burkhardt.  “Attendees will be able to interact with their favorite fly fishing personality, Frank Smethurst, and ask questions about the upcoming season on Sportsman Channel.”

This past July, IMO and Trout Unlimited signed a long-term partnership agreement that reaches across both companies’ media platforms. In addition to “On the Rise” moving exclusively to IMO’s Sportsman Channel, the agreement also calls for a dynamic level of cooperation between the two partners in the development of a new digital platform for Trout Unlimited, which will include content and technology sharing, as well as cross-promotion and marketing of TU’s website, www.tu.org Overall, the partnership includes an integrated marketing campaign involving advertising in a selection of IMO’s portfolio of magazines and websites, including industry-leader Fly Fisherman, as well as public service announcements on Sportsman Channel to give further exposure to Trout Unlimited and its core mission of conserving, protecting and restoring North America’s trout and salmon fisheries and their watersheds.

You realize when you switched to the Sportsman channel that you lost a tremendous amount of your audience? Dish Network will not carry the Sportsmans channel. It really sucks what you’ve done.
