Tenkara USA’s EBISU rod is a celebration of the company’s 10-year anniversary.  Remember that Tenkara USA is the company that really stamped this style of fishing into the angling community… and proved it is not a fad.  Ebisu has a softer action, and is designed for precise casting.  It’s 12 feet long and retails for $175.

The new Bauer RVR (for “river”) reel is really a piece of art.  The concept uses a 6-axis machine to cut the aluminum, allowing for a nest-like, ultra-light, visually appealing reel, with an improved and more durable/water-resistant drag technology.  This one is a definite looker, and it comes in variations for Euro-style nymphing , trout, spey, etc.  It’s not cheap, ranging from $695 to $755, but the combination of strategic design, aesthetics, and function justify that, in spades.

A new accessory that’s very functional and valuable is the Koala from Hangtime, which holds a cell phone on a protective webbing and tether,  which keeps your phone safe and secure on the water, or just walking around a trade show floor.  Go to Hangtimegear.com to learn more, but this is an interesting accessory that might be a valuable offshoot for some shops.  We’ll cover this one more, once we test it out a bit more.  Stay tuned. Their indigogo campaign is ongoing now!

Dr Slick’s “Crossfire” series of scissor clamps are really nice because they have rubberized grips, which are absolutely valuable on the water, especially in the cold.  We are particularly fond of the mitten scissor clamps, and will write them up more when we get them on the water.
