106 Fly Tiers to Demonstrate at International Tying Symposium

One hundred six fly tiers from Switzerland to the Rocky Mountains, Italy to Canada, will demonstrate the newest techniques of turning fur and feathers into artificial fishing flies at the 26th Annual International Fly Tying Symposium, Nov. 19-20 in the Garden State Exhibit Center, 50 Atrium Dr., Somerset, NJ.

Admission to the pre-Thanksgiving event is $15 on Sat., $12 on Sun. or $22 for both days. Symposium hours are 9-5 on Sat.; 9-4:30 on Sun. Parking is free.

Amateur and professional men and women who will demonstrate their fly-tying craft at the event include –

Tying classes will be conducted at the adjacent DoubleTree Hotel by Clouser, Chocklett,

Petitjean, Charlie Craven and Tim Cammisa. Clouser will also conduct a casting class. There is an $80 per class registration fee.

A new wrinkle for the Symposium will be an opportunity to “Meet the Bloggers,” said Symposium Director Chuck Furimsky.

“Bloggers who conduct increasingly popular on-line fly tying chat forums will hold a round table discussion on Sat. afternoon. Blogger participants include Cammisa, Tim Flagler, Matt Grobert, Josh Miller, Jim Misiura and Loren Williams,” he said.

The 106 tiers are expected to demonstrate more than 2,000 nymph, streamer, dry and wet fly patterns for both fresh and saltwater fishing … trout to tuna.
