Grosvenor Lodge is a small, private lodge operating in Katmai National Park that serves a maximum of six guests at a time. Due to the small scale of the lodge, one must be self capable and comfortable living in a remote environment for four and a half months. The lodge does have wifi and phone as long as the generator is on.
Boats are our primary method of mobility to fish Grosvenor and Coville lakes, and the rivers/creeks that feed into them. We fish for trophy Rainbows, Dolly Varden, Northern Pike, and Lake Trout. Most notably, with our concession contract, we have the ability to operate a 18 foot jet sled on the lower American Creek that feeds into Coville Lake which holds some of the best fly fishing water in Bristol Bay.
For this position, extensive fishing experience is required. An ideal applicant shall be versed in all phases of freshwater fishing including fly fishing, fly tying, trolling, and spin fishing. Guide is needed to have experience and be comfortable driving boats in large lakes as well as shallow creeks. Qualifying USCG OUPV(6 pack) license is highly recommended, but not required. We would like, but do not expect you to be a master in all fishing aspects. We simply expect a willingness to learn and adapt to a diverse program in order to please your guests making the lodge and yourself successful.
Beyond fishing, an ideal applicant will be able to perform basic boat maintenance, be familiar with power tools and basic maintenance to maintain the lodge and grounds, and be willing to work long hours.
