Strung Magazine announced its Winter 2019 Climate Change Issue, a curated collection of stories and photography pushing the traditional boundaries of outdoor sporting publications.  Joseph Ballarini, Strung’s publisher and editor in chief, said: “We aim to use the resources we have—our business, our voice and our imaginations to do something about climate change. It’s an issue at the heart of our business and a challenge that requires leadership. Climate change is a touchy subject in the hook and bullet world, but we fully embrace the risk. We think it’s worth it to raise awareness and protect the things we love. We aren’t bound by convention.”

With the Winter Climate Change issue, Strung shows itself to be on the front lines of climate change issues such as sea ice loss, shifting plant and animal ranges, accelerated sea level rise and longer, more intense heat waves. Strung’s Climate Change Issue will feature groundbreaking content from polar explorer, award-winning photographer, author, and climate change expert, Sebastian Copeland. Copeland has led numerous expeditions to document changing conditions in polar regions. He has addressed governments as well as audiences at the United Nations, universities, and Fortune 500 companies, warning of the systemic transformations taking place at the planet’s poles.

Strung’s Climate Change Issue also features essays documenting upland gamebird habitat loss in the Midwest as well as declining steelhead numbers in the Pacific Northwest. The Climate Change Issue stands as an industry first, combining award-winning story telling with conservation and environmental issues not typically discussed in the hunting and fishing industry. The result is a beautiful collection of stories and photography giving Strung’s readers thoughtful information and ideas about the changes they are experiencing first-hand in their outdoor pursuits.
