The Flymen Fishing Co.’s new line of flies, The Blane Chocklett Signature Fly Collection, continues to build momentum on its rapid rise to popularity in the fly fishing world.

The new Chocklett’s Micro Changer, coming in 2020, won the coveted ‘Best of Show – Freshwater Fly’ award at the International Fly Tackle Dealer Show in Denver Colorado last week, which also had companies such as Montana Fly Company, Umpqua Feather Merchants, Aqua Flies, Fulling Mill, and more, represented at the show.

Chocklett’s Micro Changer is a highly articulated baitfish pattern less than 2 inches long, with 7 articulated segments tied with the new Fish-Skull® Chocklett’s Articulated Micro-Spine™. The new Micro Changer is extremely light and easy to cast, even on a 2 or 3 wt. fly rod for trout, but can also be used for larger fish, such as bass on an 8 wt., or saltwater species on even stronger rods.

“We’re grateful for and appreciate the fly fishing community backing us for this award.” Said Martin Bawden, founder and head product designer of Flymen Fishing Company. “We’re consistently working hard to develop innovative flies and fly tying materials, and it’s always great to see how well-recieved they are in the community. Stay tuned, we have quite a few next-generation products in the works that we think you will really enjoy, coming soon.”

Chocklett’s Micro Changer is one of several new upcoming flies in the Blane Chocklett Signature Fly Collection that were announced and displayed at the show. These new flies are currently available for pre-order to fly fishing dealers, and will be available in 2020.

The new micro-size flies in Flymen’s Blane Chocklett Signature Fly Collection are tied using one of Flymen’s new tying systems, the Fish-Skull Chocklett’s Articulated Micro-Spine. The new Chocklett’s Articulated Micro-Spine allows fly tyers to take the Game Changer style of fly tying to completely new territory. Fly tyers can take their trout fly tying and fishing to the next level with Chocklett’s Articulated Micro-Spine, which comes in 6 mm, 8 mm, and 6 mm Tail Shank lengths. The sky is the limit for realistically imitating insects, small baitfish, crustaceans, and other aquatic critters with never-before-possible lifelike movement.

A Game Changer

Game Changer flies are a distinct style of highly articulated streamer patterns designed and popularized by Blane Chocklett, one of the fly fishing industry’s most forward-thinking and innovative fly designers. The original Game Changer fly has evolved to become a fly design style, not a specific fly pattern, and today Blane ties a variety of Game Changers using different materials to target different species in various fisheries. These flies in their different iterations has caught many different species of fish all over the world from trout to roosterfish.

Flymen Fishing Co. recently established a specialized fly tying facility specifically for commercially producing this line of flies.

“Until our recent release of the fly collection, these next-generation Game Changers have not been readily available to the market except from a few private tyers. I am excited that fellow anglers will now have the opportunity to fish and enjoy success with my flies.” Said Chocklett.

Sometimes described as ‘swimbaits for fly fishermen,’ these lightweight, multi-sectioned flies swim and catch fish like no other fly on the market. Game Changer flies are created using a combination of the Fish-Skull® Articulated Fish-Spine system, as well as the new Micro-Spine system, and other innovative tying materials to achieve a never-before-possible level of natural swimming movement and realism.

“Something that’s very important to me is to make sure the flies I design will fish exactly the way I created them, and the flies in my signature Changer fly collection I’m releasing with Flymen are tied to my exact specifications.” Said Chocklett.
