The Wader Wars, Cont’d…
We thought the wader category was the most hotly contested at IFTD this year. Simms took the trophy in the New Product Showcase with its new G4Z line of waders (men’s) and G3 Guide Z wader (women’s). The real appeal there is supple, yet highly durable materials. We have worn them, fished in them, and yes, they are deserving of all the kudos.
But don’t forget about the new Patagonia Swiftcurrent waders for men and women, which turned a LOT of heads at the show. The Expedition Zip Front waders were our favorites in this line, as they are made of at least 70 percent recycled material, and have a more athletic, comfortable fit.
The Orvis PRO series is also the best wader line that company has ever made, in our opinion with nice features like padding in the knees, and durable yet flexible form. All in all, the paradigm has definitely shifted in this category and angling consumers have a lot to look forward to.
