Salt Lake City, UT – January 5, 2016 – Chums, leading manufacturer of eyewear retainers and outdoor accessories, is pleased to partner with Missoula-based company, Flyvines, to launch the new Chums Flyvine eyewear retainer comprised of recycled and hand-braided fishing fly line. The outdoor accessories brand is run by a small handful of fly-fishing industry professionals who wish to impact the outdoors in a positive and meaningful way through the reuse of recycled materials.

“We’re extremely excited to add the Chums Flyvine eyewear retainer to our line of innovative eyewear accessories for 2016,” said Mike Neary, Vice President of Sales at Chums. “Flyvine’s dedication to style and creating environmentally friendly products is a great fit for our brand, especially given how many of our accessories are made here in the U.S. Flyvines has quickly become the go-to lanyard among fishing guides and hardcore anglers so we’re thrilled to highlight these hand braided and one-of-a-kind retainers.”

Montana fly fishing outfitter, Lance Gleason, started the company after randomly braiding old trashed fly line to create a lanyard. After years on the river, he sought a simple lanyard that was both functional and durable and the recycled fly line became a big hit with his clients. Fast forward to 2015 where Flyvines now creates bracelets, keychains, eyewear retainers and other fly fishing accessories using a pattern developed over long Montana winters and while enduring muddy run-offs.

“Flyvines is excited for the opportunity to partner with a great U.S. company which will allow us to keep our commitment to keeping jobs local and accessible to stay-at-home mothers,” said Flyvines owner Erin Kane. “Working with Chums will also help us spread the message to recycle old fly line to a much broader outdoor base. We look forward to improving the Flyvines product with the outstanding molds Chums provides and look forward to further growth in 2016.”

Also debuting at the 2016 winter Outdoor Retailer show is the highly durable and mechanical Chums Ratchet molded eyewear retainer. The new Ratchet head system – unlike other retainers – gives a halo effect on the back and allows for remarkable adjustability giving users four different retainer positions and a 180-degree range of motion. The silicone rubber temples fit most eyewear frames and come together like a ratchet with eurothene adjusters.

Whether users are dealing with sweaty and oily skin while kayaking or harsh wet weather conditions while deep-sea fishing, the Ratchet’s adjustability and durability will provide maximum security for eyewear and shades.

The Chums Flyvine will retail for $9.99 and will be available to consumers in March 2016. The Chums Ratchet will retail for $11.99 and will be available in January 2016.
