From Tidal Roots:
Tidal Roots is partnering with the Maine Island Trail Association (MITA) to help support America’s first recreational water trail in America. Since Tidal Roots manufactures “green” paddleboards out of local Maine cedar in New England, the fit to help MITA was a clear decision for founders Kyle Schaefer and Kent Scovill. Tidal Roots has commits to donate $10 for every paddleboard sold to the well-established water trail, which spans over 200 coastal islands along the 375 miles of stunning Maine coast line. “MITA is one of Maine’s finest gems, offering members and other users a wilderness-feeling adventure right in our own backyard” said Kyle Schaefer.
“We look forward to developing our relationship with MITA and helping to organize island clean-ups, and possibly adopting an island that Tidal Roots will be able to assist in care taking” said Kent Scovill.

The Maine Island Trail is a 375-mile water trail extending from the New Hampshire border to Canada. From an original 30 islands, the Trail has grown to include 212 islands and mainland sites open for daytime and overnight recreational use.
The Maine Island Trail Association (MITA) is a 4,000-member organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the wild islands of Maine. Through 27 years of community-building, stewardship and education, the organization developed America’s first recreational water trail as a model of sustainable recreation. MITA members enjoy access to Trail properties for day use or overnight visits in return for observing low-impact techniques and guidelines.
