One of the hottest “new materials” we’re seeing in a number of products is actually the old wader standard neoprene. But nobody has applied that material to create a jacket as artfully and functionally as STORMR. The new-for-2014 Strykr Jacket (retail $299.95) is waterproof, windproof, high-stretch, and exceptionally thermal efficient. In other words, it’s ideal for snotty, chilly steelhead conditions, or the sideways squalls often encountered while in search for striped bass.
The jacket is actually comprised of three layers, a base fleece layer that helps wick away moisture, a 4-way stretch neoprene layer, and a nylon outside layer.
One added benefit is floatability… alone, the jacket provides 5-7 pounds of added buoyancy, which means the angler who falls overboard will likely float above chin level.
Also on the way, a camo version of the jacket called Stealth (retail $375), which is quieter and warmer than many Gore-Tex options, and ideal for the duck blind.
Strykr is running a special that includes a free dry bag (a $54.95 value) with every Strykr purchase while supplies last.
