From OIA:

Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) commends the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources for voting to confirm REI CEO Sally Jewell to be the next U.S. Secretary of the Interior, and encourages the full Senate to confirm her nomination when the vote moves to the floor.

“Sally Jewell understands the importance of balancing the nation’s natural resources is not an ‘either-or’ choice,” said Frank Hugelmeyer, president and CEO of Outdoor Industry Association. “She gets that it is possible to support the economy and create jobs in a balanced and holistic manner.”

Ms. Jewell’s leadership experience as CEO, oil and gas engineer and financier uniquely positions her to lead and understand the opportunities and challenges facing the Department of the Interior.

Nearly half of all Americans participate in outdoor activities, spending $646 billion on outdoor recreation every year, supporting more than 6.1 million sustainable American jobs and generating nearly $80 billion in federal, state and local tax revenue.
